Meeting of the Academic Council of the Federal Research Center for Agroecology of the Russian Academy of Sciences to discuss the operations within the key innovative government project

According to the website of the Federal Research Center for Agroecology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Center was held on October 10, 2022 to discuss ‘carbon-themed’ activities within the framework of the implementation of the key innovative government project.

“This week we need to intensify our carbon-themed work. It is definitely a necessity to focus on our six climate test sites, since we have until the end of October 2022 to prepare the data sheets for these facilities. This is a big, large-scale project that involves almost all employees at the Federal Research Center for Agroecology of the Russian Academy of Sciences,” said Anna Pugacheva, Candidate of Sciences in Agriculture, Acting Deputy Director for Research.

“We should shift into the work mode straight away. I think all the documents will be published today. Working everything out, launching everything took some time. We’re expecting to receive the grant any day now. As Anna Mikhailovna has already said, it would be necessary to involve the research team of our Center as much as possible in this matter,” commented Aleksandr Belyaev, Professor, Doctor of Sciences in Agriculture, Chairman of the Academic Council, Director of the Federal Research Center for Agroecology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

As you may know, carbon test sites are a pilot project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. On the one hand, the sites are located in unurbanized areas, where new technologies for measuring, monitoring, and controlling greenhouse gases are being developed and tested. On the other hand, a carbon test site is an organization, and a site operator who conducts research at this site purchases, installs and maintains measuring equipment, conducts training activities, develops and implements Master’s degree training and advanced educational programs.
