Abstract: As part of biogeochemical studies of the northern taiga forests of Murmansk Oblast, a database has been developed that includes details of the carbon content in various components of ecosystems — atmospheric precipitation (snow and rain), soils, soil waters, woody plants, forest litter, plants, and lichens in the ground cover. The database includes the results of studies obtained in permanent sampling areas of the Institute of Problems of Industrial Ecology of the North at the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which are located under natural conditions and in anthropogenic disturbance areas of the region.  The database contains data for the period from 1992 to 2022, which is regularly upgraded, updated every year, and is easily editable, which makes it possible to combine it with similar databases.

The database builds the framework for the analysis of data on the carbon content in various components of northern taiga forests growing under extreme natural conditions and exposed to atmospheric pollution. It can be used by specialists in the field of nature protection and forest monitoring, as well as to monitor carbon pools and carbon fluxes in forest ecosystems of Murmansk Oblast.
