Comprehensive studies of north taiga forests have been conducted in the Murmansk region

From July 24 to August 23, a field team of terrestrial ecosystems laboratory of the INEP KSC RAS (Tatyana Sukhareva, Vyacheslav Ershov, Dmitry Zhivov, Nikolay Ryabov, Elena Sidorova) completed the work started last year in geochemically coupled landscapes in undisturbed spruce forests on typical illuvial-humus podzols of the northern taiga zone of the Murmansk region. Inspections of sites in transit landscapes, inventory of tree stands were carried out, and soil and plant samples were taken. Scientists conducted soil studies to determine carbon reserves in soil and phytomass at 10 sample areas of biogeochemical monitoring at different stages of technogenic digression (background, defoliating forests, technogenic sparse forests). The work was carried out in the process of creating the The national system for monitoring the dynamics of climatically active substances in terrestrial ecosystems of the Russian Federation.
