Abstract. Based on the analysis of the wood growth dynamics in the middle-aged pine forests of the Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe of various structures, formed through improvement thinning of various intensities and introduction of various dosages of mineral fertilizers (urea, 46% of the active substance), the regularities of change in current annual growth have been established. A model is proposed to assess the trends in growth with age and density of plantations both with and without fertilizers. The study presents evidence showing that in the Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe, due to the application of fertilizers, current annual growth in pine stands can be increased by 1.2–6.8 m3/ha compared to the control group. Differences in response of plantations to fertilizers in the first 5 years and the following 3 years were revealed. It has been established that current annual growth increases significantly starting from the 6th year after fertilizer application. Density-age optimums of productivity of pine stands have been established that provide a multiple-scale increase in the growth of the stands as compared with the control group. The knowledge obtained represents the theoretical framework for implementation of the model of intensive use and reproduction of forests under the best forest growth conditions and may be useful in the development of carbon farms, whose main purpose is to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial enterprises, transportation companies, and livestock complexes.
